I finally decided to try Oobé after the constant nagging of a friend of mine, knowing how much I like ATICO outlets I expected it to be top-notch, just to pass by for lunch yesterday and find it utterly disappointing.
Let me start my review, the location was easy to get to, ex-Nai which is at Alqasr metropole hotel, I got inside… it still had the Nai feeling, the same construction with different colors, it felt a little weird and the colors were a little uncomfortable, I felt like I have entered a lady salon by mistake.
However, I found a nice table right in the corner, checked the menu out and ordered the “Spicy Cheese Balls” as an appetizer and the “Amigo Classic Beef Burger” as the main course with Pepsi, and also asked the waiter to pass me a “Cinnamon Crumble Apple Pie” once I’m done with the main-course.
To be honest and show that I’m totally unbiased, I’ll give the guys credit for the great music, the friendliness and happy atmosphere. The food started arriving all together, biting into the cheese balls, the plate had 6 pieces which is alright, 3 squares which were Mozarella filled and 3 balls which were filled with some other kind of cheese, it was yellowish and tasted a bit like Chedder, the Mozarella bites were great but the other 3 were weird tasting, crusty from the outside but freezing cold in the middle and they were not spicy at all. I even thought they’re under fried/cooked but decided to let that pass, knowing the place is new and so.
Next was the burger, which was Medium-well just like I requested and tasted heavenly, the bun was too soft and tasty, the beef quality was also great. One of the best burgers in town, I guarantee. What was disappointing was the topping onion, which felt like it was chewed and put back in the bun and also, the slightly very little amount of French fries in the bucket, It was easy to remove the onions, which I did and then continued indulging in this Emmental cheese topped angus beef patty.
Third came the dessert, which was the ”Cinnamon Crumble Apple Pie”… I can honestly say that was the worst pie I’ve ever had in my entire life counting the apple pies I’ve had in Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, UAE, England… and even Jordan, the pie was basically burned from the bottom, like really burned to a level you can’t eat it.. I had to scrap the first layer out to eat it, and the ice cream was the weirdest tasting sherbet I’ve ever had, it was Lemon flavored and I think it didn’t have any milk. I mean, it tasted worse than any ice cream I’ve had my entire life. This was not dessert.
Anyways, over-all most of that ruined my experience. I only sort of enjoyed the burger and I didn’t enjoy the bill at all, I visited during Happy Hours (which I’m not if only applies to alcohol, which I didn’t have). The price was so expensive and over-exaggerated too, I paid 31 JDs for a burger + appetizer + dessert and 2 sodas, Diet Pepsi to be specific. 31 JDS FOR THAT!
For the same amount, I could’ve enjoyed an open-buffet all you can eat steak at Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse, or 2 burgers of same quality and taste with soda for half the price at Cafe Burger.
Oobé, not recommended at all. Scoring 2/5 on my scale, never again.
