The Dark Knight won’t rise in the Middle East
The brand-new Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises” releasing around the world on July 20th, 2012 will not be released in time. According to @WBLebanon and imdb, the Lebanese release date is August 16th, 2012 almost a month behind the international release because of Ramadan.

Apparently Ramadan’s month sales affects cinema viewership/sales in the region while technically speaking I don’t think the Lebanese, Jordanian or Iraqi market is going to any influenced by this (like the GCC would), but it is really disappointing.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan is operated by the company Joseph Chacra & Sons, the WB licensee for Lebanon & SHOOTING STARS, the Licensee for Syria, Jordan, Iraq.
Till now, I’m still wondering why Warner Bros. Lebanon & Shooting Stars LLC are insisting to release major WB releases months after, take Harold & Kumar CHRISTMAS movie getting released NOW (3 months later?) and The Dark Knight Rises being delayed a month after its official worldwide release. This is unaccepted and demeaning to all fans in the region! THIS IS PURE NONSENSE, J. Edgar was out on Blu-Ray worldwide while it played here last week, now this and they late release of Batman’s new title. check imdb link attached. You guys have been warned, don’t underestimate the power of social media and piracy, by the time you play Batman… it’ll be out to download in a watchable quality, lose money and close if you don’t explain or follow international dates.
We need this to be fixed and we demand answers NOW!

Movie review: وهلّأ لوين؟ - Et Maintenant On Va Où?

Yes, the titles above are for one movie, Lebanon’s official submission to the 84th Academy Awards 2012 by the one & only Nadine Labaki.

I don’t know what to say, I came out happy… I cried, I laughed, I felt good and felt sad and I enjoyed every single second of one of the best movies I’ve watched this year so far, really as they say in Arabic “It ends with Musk” as in ختامها مسك.

This movie was fantastic. It talks about the sad life that we’ve reached, the level of racism that we indirectly live and hatred we have deep down inside, because we’re different.. we’re only muslim neither only christians in this world and yet, we can’t live and let live. Won’t spoil anything, I just recommend everyone in Jordan, Lebanon & Syria to go watch it, since it is playing there now and enjoy 2 hours of their remaining life.

Nadine Labaki, waynik men zaman?

Movie rating: 5/5

المنحوس منحوس لو علقو بطيزو فانوس

So I finally arrived to Beirut after a tiring day, I miss the day when going to Beirut thru Syria costed nothing, a beautiful green road ride for 4.5 hours. Now, I have to go by plane where the flight is for 45 minutes, but technically speaking it is the same, because I have to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight and then after landing, I need around an hour to stamp my passport and collect my bag, so it is the same time technically speaking.

Today, I experienced one of the most terrible flights with MEA, it seems like the captain lost control of the plane at a certain time and had to make us all panic by driving the plane like a 4x4 truck into sand. Then informed us of possibility of landing in Cyprus instead (while he took 2 rounds and wasted 25 minutes of my life trying some stunts), at a certain point pressure was almost lost and the plane was utterly uncomfortable.

However, we arrived safe and I didn’t die. But I’m definitely flying with attitude filled Royal Jordanian airlines next time, No wonder MEA convinces you to get flight insurance *sarcasm, haha*

I’m Beirut-ing till Thursday. Yay! (broke, you know salaries are usually last weekend of the month before and that is… Next Thursday)

Till the world ends, tada.

LMFAO will not be shuffling in Lebanon anymore. Yes I know!

LMFAO have canceled their event in Lebanon due to threats they received from some fanatical extremist Christians who think their Extremism is the voice of Jesus. These extremists think that the guy featured in the LMFAO music videos is dressed like Jesus. In the future, Does that mean that Lebanon will not be able to have shows by any eccentric or artistic musicians and stars for example Madonna or Lady Gaga?

(video from day 2 by Moh’d Zatari)

All I can say is that, I enjoyed a ليلة with ليلى.

The event was very well organized, thanks to the great efforts made by Art Medium, the atmosphere, the location and the crowd.

Zeid and the Wings started almost on time, great attitude although the crowd wasn’t responding well to Zeid’s music, knowing it is a whole different experience.

Until we nagged and forced Zeid to sing “General Sulieman” who was afraid to be caught for singing it, but after constant nagging of the crowd, he decided to sing it for us which was more than awesome, with Yasmin off the stage for some reason.

I can’t describe my feelings towards Mashrou’ Leila, except for the videos I took (editing & uploading tonight). The new songs by Leila were just eargasmic, I can’t really wait for the new album to come out.

I was also very happy that Hamed recognized me in my “الحل رومانسي” T-shirt, I traced the typography off their artwork a couple of days ago and had it printed by Mlabbas (after looking for anything special to wear). Everyone was asking about the T-shirt and I think it is time Leila started investing in merchandise.

For those who missed it, YOU REALLY MISSED IT.
